Challenge Brief

The Middle East (and parts of South Asia) has been producing and consuming this delicious fruit for centuries: dates. They grow on date palm trees - capable of surviving the dry climate of countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iran. The fruit is rich in nutrients and can be consumed in many forms - raw, seeded, as a jam or a syrup. Yet, the awareness and consumption outside the Middle East (especially in the USA) is minimal.

What is required from you?

Create a western brand (esp US and UK) and market demand for the date fruit - establishing it at the same level of desirability as strawberries or exotic fruits like mangoes. In doing so, you'll improve the economic prospects of nation states that produce this fruit in surplus.
